Cal has declared happiness, laughter, smiling and conversation illegal. Citizens are instructed to destroy their dearest possessions and anyone discovered to be hiding an item likely to cause happiness will be shot.

The Genmo DX3 Road Liner is fitted with a crash-proof command capsule and equipped with air bags.

Undercity dwellers refer to those who live on the surface as upsiders.

His road liner crashes through into the Undercity.
