2000 AD & Starlord Prog 128
1 Sept 79
Judge Dredd Megazine 331
Savage escapes the Wembley whirlpool.
FIRSTS & LASTS
A whirlpool a hundred yards wide destroys Wembley stadium.
The DUKW's top speed in water is sixty miles per hour.
When Sam Slick's customers decide to lynch him, Savage shoots the rope and frees him. He plans to jump the whirlpool in his DUKW.
He can calculate the trajectory required for the DUKW to jump the whirlpool.
When threatened by a whirlpool, his customers decide to lynch him, but Savage shoots the rope and frees him. He replaced himself on the DUKW with a tailor's dummy, so that it would be lighter and make it's jump easier.
One. Slick Sam is crushed by the collapsing walls of Wembley Stadium.
Bamber: "Whirlpool! The most terrifying occurrence in water!"
CONTINUITY & CROSSOVERS
None, although maybe there ought to be (see MISTAKES).

Script: G. Finley-Day
Letters: Jack Potter
This is great, the lynching, the jump, the dummy and the destruction of Wembley Stadium are all great. THe dialogue has picked as well. It's just a shame that Wembley featured so prominently in Invasion! unharmed.
